Chile: 8.8 Degrees of Anguish

INEXPLICATA received word only minutes ago from Raúl Núñez of the IIEE, who had the following brief message to share:

Raul Núñez: "Nature Rebelled in Chile"

We cannot overlook making a remark regarding the vast tragedy that engulfs Chile.

It is indescribable. There are no words or adjectives to describe the experience of a powerful earthquake, to which we were victims and eyewitnesses.

The forces of nature unleashed, uncontrollable, makes one feel insignificant. A worthless pawn not worth reckoning with. The sensations produced by the monumental thundering under our feet cannot be explained in words. They must be felt.

It is only now that electricity has been restored to the area of Santiago in which our headquarters are located.

We would like to thank the numerous messages of support we have recieved from Spain, the U.S., Italy, and from our correspondents in Iquique, Angol, Concepcion, Puerto Montt and our friends at large. All of them concerned over our physical and mental well-being. Many thanks for your concern.

We are well, if frightened....but well. "Normalcy" is being restored little by little. Chile must rebuild itself, yet again.
